A portrait in oils on canvas, dated to the late nineteenth century, unsigned but attributed to French artist Francois Bernard (1812-1875). Framed. 91 cm. high by 70 cm. Wide.

This painting is of a Victorian lady. She is seated, wearing a black dress with an elaborate lace collar, mourning for her husband – her wedding ring is prominent.

She is wearing a simple gold chain necklace, and a fine gold brooch with three red gemstones. It is in poor condition and was acquired from the Christie’s saleroom in South Kensington in July 1995.

Un retrato en óleo sobre lienzo, de finales del siglo XIX, sin firmar, pero atribuido al artista francés Francois Bernard (1812-1875). Enmarcado. Mide 91 cm de alto por 70 cm de ancho.

 Esta pintura es de una dama victoriana. Está sentada, vestida con un vestido negro con un elaborado collar de encaje, llorando por su esposo: su anillo de bodas es prominente.

Lleva un collar de cadena de oro simple y un broche de oro fino con tres piedras preciosas rojas. Está en mal estado y fue adquirido en la sala de ventas de Christie en South Kensington en julio de 1995.
