01.24 Sideboard and mirror

‘Vidal’ Furniture
(Location – Price Room and Red Rooms) 

Catalogue numbers 01.10, 01.19, 01.22, 01.23 and 01.24. 

These are items of furniture which belonged to the previous owners of Isabel II no.17. (Don Juan Vidal Llado and Doña Magdalena Moya Pico), which we bought at the time that we bought the property. 

 01.10 A mahogany framed, red damask upholstered sofa, with a set of 6 matching chairs, upholstered in a floral fabric, Spanish-made reproductions of 19th century furniture, dating from the mid 20th century. The sofa is 151 cm. wide by 110 cm. tall and 65 cm. deep. Each chair is 45 cm. wide by 92 cm. high and 50 cm. deep. 

01.19 A large 3-section mahogany wardrobe with inlaid decoration, and an oval mirror on the door of the central section.  Possibly locally made, early/mid-20th century.  Width 232 cm. by 242 cm. high by 54 cm. deep. 

01.22 A late-Victorian suite of 8 dining chairs, 2 with arms, with their original upholstery (somewhat distressed)  in pale cream lily pattern brocade. Each of the mahogany framed chairs is topped with a carved wood decoration which includes the Mahon City ensignia. The chairs with arms have a height of 119 cm. a width of 60 cm. and a depth of 64 cm. The chairs without arms are 110 cm. high by 45 cm. wide by 45 cm. deep. 

01.23 A grand high-backed sofa, with upholstery identical to the chairs above (01.22), with a carved mahogany frame and a shelf over, topped by a large mirror with carved rococo decoration. The settee is 164 cm. high by 194 cm. wide and 75 cm. deep.  The mirror measures 137 cm. high by 173 cm. wide. 

01.24 A red-marble topped console, measuring 135 cm. wide by 78 cm. high and 41 cm deep complete with a large mirror, now separated, 237 cm. high by 135 cm. wide. The carved decoration of this mirror is very similar to that of the other mirror above (01.23)
