A painting using oils on canvas by English artist Simon Gales (1964 -    ) in a shaped laquered black frame.  Titled, signed and dated 1992-3 on the back.  Overall height 89 cm by 46 cm wide. 

Simon Gales studied at the Ipswich School of Art from 1983 to 1985, and then at the Goldsmith’s College in London from 1985 to 1988, where he was awarded a first-class degree in Fine Arts.  He lives in France and has exhibited widely in Britain and France. There is a detailed biography of him on Wikipedia.  We bought this at auction at Bonhams in Knightsbridge on the 16th November 2004 (Sale number 11457 ‘English and Continental Pictures’ Lot number 65).
