02.21 A study of a tree

A watercolour painting on paper by an unknown artist dating from the late twentieth century. Unsigned, nicely framed. 35 cm high by 23 cm wide. 

Bought from Julie Collino (see 87.04) in March 2002.  She thought, by analogy but without evidence, that the artist was Australian-based Graham Gercken. He is a self-taught artist, heavily influenced by the impressionists, born in Queensland in 1960, who lives and works in the wooded Blue Mountains west of Sydney. He has spent time in China studying ink-wash techniques.

Acuarela sobre papel, de autor desconocido, que data de finales del siglo XX. Está sin firmar y muy bien enmarcada. Mide 35 cm de alto por 23 cm de ancho. 

Comprado a Julie Collino (ver 87.04) en marzo de 2002. Ella pensó, por analogía, pero sin pruebas, que el autor era Graham Gercken, residente en Australia. Es un artista autodidacta, fuertemente influenciado por los impresionistas, nacido en Queensland en 1960, que vive y trabaja en las boscosas Montañas Azules al oeste de Sydney. Ha pasado un tiempo en China estudiando técnicas de lavado de tinta.
