A sketch, charcoal on paper, of the human form, by Sir William Rothenstein, signed and dated 1928, framed. 49 cm. high by 39 cm wide.

Sir William Rothenstein (born January 29th 1872, died February 14th 1945) was a distinguished English artist.  He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, and is perhaps best known as a war artist in both World Wars.  He was Principal of the Royal College of Art in London from 1920 to 1935. There are some 200 of his works in the National Portrait Gallery.

We bought this picture from Julie Collino (see 87.04) in 2001.

Sir William Rothenstein (nacido el 29 de enero de 1872, muerto el 14 de febrero de 1945) fue un distinguido artista inglés. Estudió en la Slade School of Fine Art, y es quizá más conocido como artista de guerra en las dos guerras mundiales. Fue director del Royal College of Art de Londres de 1920 a 1935. Hay unas 200 de sus obras en la National Portrait Gallery.
